Under Water

I went under 
not to disappear,
but to remember.
The light was distant,
blurred through the weight of blue.
Every sound faded,
every breath turned slow.
There, beneath the noise,
truth waited 
quiet, patient..
In the stillness, I met myself again,
the part that knows how to breathe
even without air.
And when I rose,
I didn’t rise the same.
I carried the ocean within me 
its peace, its power,
its promise
that even from the lowest place,
light always finds a way through.
